Ruppel Gains Confidence
@ Crandon
-
Chetek, WI (September 12, 2011) - The 2011 Crandon World
Championships were a busy time for Eric Ruppel in his #73
Phil’s Inc. McGunegill Peformance BFGoodrich Tires Ford
Ranger. Thanks to an earlier rainout at the Spring event at
Crandon, all the PRO-Light teams were faced with three rounds
of racing in three days. The team knew it would be a stressful
weekend, but Rupe and his team were ready for the “Big House.”
-
Unfortunately rain was in the forecast all weekend long, and
Mother Nature did not disappoint. All three days of racing saw
rain, yet somehow TORC and Crandon officials were able to
complete the entire weekend race program.
-
The twenty truck PRO-Light starting grid was the largest
turnout of the year for the mid-size V8 powered race trucks.
Eric was looking forward to the weekend as the team believed
they had all the new truck bugs worked out of the truck. Then
again the Labor Day Weekend event is special for all race
teams in Crandon.
The weekend went fairly well for the McGunegill Performance
Ford Ranger. In all three races Rupe was in the hunt for a top
five finish, but a couple of driving miscues and a reoccurring
brake issue would keep the black #73 Ford from challenging the
front runners in the class. Officially Eric Ruppel finished in
tenth place in all three rounds of racing.
-
“I’m disappointed with our final results, but pretty happy
with our performance,” remarked Eric Ruppel. “We were able to
run much closer to the front of the pack and hopefully we
turned some heads this weekend. The top seven trucks have a
ton more experience in the class, but as we head to the short
tracks of Chicago and San Antonio, we can seriously challenge
for a top five finish.”
-
The next race on the 2011 TORC race schedule is September
14-15, 2011 at The Dirt Track @ Chicagoland Speedway in
Joliet, IL.
-
If you can't make it to the races on Thursday night, be sure
to tune into Speed Channel to catch the TORC event live from
Chicagoland Speedway from 8-10 pm EST.
